Our process?

Mary Hush is a series of themed art parties that happen in unique locations across ÅŒtautahi. Creatives are invited to occupy an approved site and work with a theme that makes the event feel truly immersive.

These creatives and their teams consist of engineers, architects, multi-media, film, performance, theatre, sculptural, visual artists and more; with music and audio experimentation at the core.

These events started with the need for an alternative nightlife that enables communal effort and creative innovation as a contrast to typical bar/venue culture that has a generally prescribed experience. Mary Hush also believes in remaining independent of institutions and funding bodies so that creatives can develop alternative ways of creating revenue and funding their ideas.

Inspired by other creatives in cities like Berlin, San Fransisco, Melbourne, and beyond, Mary Hush has in-turn become an inspiration for more intentional urban nightlife events centered around wellbeing, creative development, and environmental impact. Profits have gone towards contributing artists and the planting of 25,000+ trees around the world and the preservation of hundreds of acres of native forestry.

Our process?

We contact building owners to obtain permission to use their buildings, provide them references of past sites, our intended planned use of their site and how we can meet H&S requirements, and make sure the event is run smoothly and in a way that feels mutually beneficial to the owner, property itself, and all of the team-members and creatives involved.

Each event follows a storyline that has been developing over 6 years, causing attendees to feel like they’re characters in an unfolding si-fi story. This gives each event an overarching theme to guide the music, art, and installations that make each event feel more cohesive and immersive.
